CHARTER TOWNSHIP OF RUTLAND

 BARRY COUNTY, MICHIGAN

 

RESOLUTION # 2022-281

 

TOWNSHIP BOARD REQUEST FOR MDOT TO ANALYSIS MULTIPLE SKEWED INTERSECTIONS

 

WHEREAS M-37 from Heath Road to Cook Road and M-43 from M-179 to Cook Road are under the jurisdiction of the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) and Heath Road from M-37 to M-37 and Green Street from M-37 to Cook Road are under the jurisdiction of the Barry County Road Commission (BCRC) and all lie within the boundaries of Rutland Charter Township and;

 

WHEREAS the construction and repairs on M-37 and M-43 has created the above corridors to have multiple intersections that are skewed and do not line up at the intersections and;

WHEREAS this area of our township has seen increased traffic and incidents of motor vehicle accidents at these intersections;

 

IT IS, THEREFORE, RESOLVED that Rutland Charter Township Board would like to request, along with the BCRC, that a safety analysis of the above listed intersections be done along with the anticipated future capacity needs of the above corridors. That said analysis include any geometric and safety improvements necessary to help increase the safety of these intersections and corridors.
